Acura's ZDX Launch Party in LA

By: Megan Becker

One of the newest additions to LA's vibrant hotel scene is the much-anticipated opening of the W Hotel Hollywood. The modern decor and trendy vibe of the hotel provided the perfect backdrop for Acura's ZDX launch party on Friday, March 12th. To add some spice to the ambiance, an art installation from famed photographer Erik Madigan Heck lined the walls. Acura chose Los Angeles as its third stop on a seven-city tour. Hosted by Heroes Ali Larter, (wearing a striking printed tube dress by Brian Reyes) and Los Angeles Confidential Magazine, the event had an incredible turn out of beautiful people gathering to celebrate the newest addition to Acura's legendary fleet of luxury vehicles.

Bobbi Brown Natural Finish Foundation!

Foundation Meltdown?
Give Us 5 Minutes. We’ll Make it Last All Day.

This oil-free formula give skin a soft-matte finish that looks healthy and natural—never heavy. And it’s buildable, so you can customize your level of coverage.”
-- Bobbi Brown

This oil-free, long-wearing foundation balances oil and combination skin, so you’ll have a soft-matte, even-looking complexion without needing to pile on powder throughout the day. Sponge-like powders absorbs excess oil on the surface of the skin, while emollients lock in moisture to ensure skin stays perfectly balanced. The transfer-resistant formula helps create a barrier against heat and humidity for 8 hours of wear so that even in the most humid climates, makeup stays in place. In addition to a range of 20 yellow-based shades, this formula contains an oil-free emulsion system that delivers a blend of finely milled pigments, spherical powders, and mica for natural-looking coverage.

PROCEEDS TO BENEFIT CHILE: PRIESTESS NYC

In response to the tragic February 28 earthquake in Chile,

Priestess NYC is making an effort to raise cash for the country’s victims.
Effective immediately, 15 percent of Priestess NYC’s sales will go to the
country via the Red Cross International Fund for immediate critical relief
and long-term recovery efforts to help those who are most in need of
assistance.

Cody Ross of Priestess NYC

Don't let the monochrome distressed leather, non-linear shapes and
day-glow iridescence fool you: The Dallas-born, NYC-based designer Cody
Ross might seem blindly enveloped in eighties-era motifs; nonetheless, he
is an avant-garde swashbuckler with a penchant for punk rock, wild
geometry and directional unisex designs. It's a predilection well suited
to his artistic yet often outré couture. Ross' asymmetrical jackets,
elongated compression dresses, quirky silk prints (of sperm, weaponry,
piranha and blowfish!) and effulgent outerwear and accessories have been
seen on eye-catching notables Natalie Portman, Tyra and Gaga, to name a
few; and the designer's cool fan base gobbles up his stuff with a
cult-like zeal.

The line’s aesthetic can be thought of as a blend of transgression, kitsch
and street-style. Part ‘80s revival, part futurism with a smattering of
goth-glam, Priestess NYC encapsulates urban-girl cool with a modern take
on punk couture. Think vintage Westwood meets Martin Margiela with a some
Jeremy Scott thrown in. Price points are reasonable—from US$150-$650—and
can be found in NYC at Destination, Sucre, EVA and Hotoveli. Outside NYC
see Em & Co. (LA) SHINE (Tokyo), Ad hoc (China), Ambush (Singapore), UK
Style (Russia), etc.

Gloss Army Workout Wear!

Gloss Army, fashionable fitness wear, was created when Andrea Prado moved to the United States from Brazil and quickly realized the need for workout clothes with a fashion edge. Prado started designing clothing that was not only functional for working out but also sophisticated and glamorous—Gloss Army separates can easily be worn from the gym to a casual yet elegant lunch with friends. Pieces range in price from $45 for tops to $95 retail for long pants. The name Gloss Army represents the feminine and disciplined qualities of active women who crave style and substance. Pants, jackets, and bra tops are designed to be comfortable, made of Supplex, a cotton-like, breathable and antibacterial nylon fabric perfect for workouts. Gloss Army’s collection features clothing ideal for hiking, running, and yoga, as well as roomy bags with convenient waterproof plastic compartments. A native of Brazil, Prado is influenced by the body-conscious swimwear found on the beaches as well as the social nature of gyms—a place to not only workout but also mingle with friends. Prado decided there was a need for fashion-forward workout wear made of quality fabrics and designed to allow the body to move freely while exercising.
Gloss Army is available online at www.bodybybrazil.com and www.westportworkoutwear.com as well as several boutiques nationwide.  Samples, look books, and images are available by request. www.glossarmy.com
